UPDATE: Updated the image 6/16/05...added the white pencil and scanned it higher resolution. Looks better, IMO. ;-)

Aye. Yeah. This...I love and hate it. ^^;
Anyway, it's not "really" finished, and I just added some white colored pencil on those waterfall things, but I was wondering if anyone had suggestions otherwise. I need to fix up those glass ball things in the trees, too. Any other ideas? If it looks good enough when I'm done I'll scan it again.

Um, well, this picture put me through hell, even though it doesn't show it. >< First it was hell drawing, because Marlon's face just wouldn't look right (I think it worked out ok though). Then I realized I had no green copic markers, so I had to order some. So they came, and I colored the tree things and was very happy. Then I colored the dark blue BG and those hideous purple waterfalls at like 1 AM, and freaked out, hated it hated it hated it. Then this morning I took a look and was like, "Oh, well, I guess it wasn't as bad as I thought..." Sooooo I don't know! But it's me and Marlon! So yay! ^_^ Oh, and the full, inside-joke title is "Moon in Libra: Black Turtleneck Propaganda." :P

Copic multiliner pens, copic markers, white ink.

Another really beautiful piece. The colours are rich and vibrant, but not overly so, and really help to bring the picture to life. The background details of all the flowers and leaves is really impressive, though looking at them is giving me hayfever ;)! I think the windswept hair is really gorgeous, as well as the faces (particularly the girl's, which is simply lovely and full of life -- I love the slight pursing of her lip). She's a beautiful specimen :P! I also love the butterflies and huge full-moon in the background, which creates a certain romantic intensity that can be hard to capture at the best of times (in real life as well as on paper!). I think this is a wonderful piece, which really showcases your talent. I'm going to have to :+fav: it, since it's so easily deserved. Keep up the good work!

When you have a blank sheet of white paper with a small black dot in the middle, what do you notice first? The black dot.

That's why this drawing really works, I think. I love how you contrasted the vast regions of soft, yellow-green flowers with vivid waterfalls, and it's interesting how you used the dark sky, which is normally just negative space, to accentuate the moon.

The way you used plain, dark clothing really helps to bring out the characters' faces as well, and the yellow ribbon was genius.

In general, it looks like you know what you want people to look at and how to get them to look there.

The one thing I'd have done differently is that I would've made the butterflies stand out more. Maybe a bright red rather than pink, but that's just personal preference.

Thanks a lot! I'm glad you like it. The yellow ribbon...that is a shirt I own. XD heehee...

Yeah, the butterflies...I thought the same thing. I was hesitant to put the rose bushes in because before they were there the butterflies stood out more, but oh well. >< I was originally going to make the butterflies multicolored, with different patterns and stuff, but I decided I liked the way it looked plain pink and black because it matched the skirt...so...it was like they were flying directly off the skirt. Or something like that. ^^;

Thanks for commenting! :heart:

Hahaha, I was just thinking that actually, that this picture was like, the epitome of Moon in Libra, absolute utter romance surrounding the couple, and the couple creating romance just by being there, under the moon.

Oh Hado, Hado, Hado. Those are the "hideous purple waterfalls?" ^_^;; They're beautiful! I mean that sincerely. I really really like them, and the way they sparkle against the moon. I think the white colored pencil touchups you did helped a lot. They totally look like water from where I am, and couldn't be mistaken for anything else. Maybe I don't know anything about art or water (somehow doubt the second one), but I love them!

The whole picture is really amazing...where do I start? I noticed the butterflies and your dress against the red background first, and it made me instantly squeal "that's so beautiful!!" inside. Well no, actually the first thing I noticed was the yellow ribbon on your shirt, which for some reason always catches my eye whenever I look. Your hair in the wind too, ooh and your face against the moon. We are SO incredibly beautiful in this picture. I love my hair too, hehe ^_^.

The moon in the dark night sky is gorgeous...I love how varied in color it (the moon) is.

I love the white and the red bordering this picture, too, on the top and bottom. Blood passion red and luminous yellow-white beauty is what it makes me think, right off the bat. Ooooh, I just wanna kiss you right now, is what the picture really makes me think. I want to kiss you under the moon. Maybe it's because we're the two people in it, but I really think it'd have that effect on anyone. Too bad they CAN'T HAVE YOU! <_< I mean, *cough* not like I'm possessive or anything... ^_^;;

<3! I love it love it love it! I'll just have to buy a black turtleneck now...there's nothing else for it, nothing else to do.

Love, Maka

Ohhh Marlon, thank you thank you. Yes, you have to get a black turtleneck, because I worked SO hard on this picture just so that it would convince you. ;)

Actually, this version doesn't have the white colored pencil on it yet. I did that today, after I scanned it. All the white there is white ink. I think the whole thing in general looks prettier on the computer than in person, but who cares. :P I also added some white pencil around the edges of the moon, so it's a bit more glowy. If I get anymore comments about stuff to change and I touch up the glass ball things, I'll scan it again when I get back from NC. So glad you liked it! Since you're in it, afterall.... <3 <3

And I want to kiss you too. How Moon in Libra is this picture anyway??? I mean, did I leave anything out? :D I have the windswept hair (air! It's an air sign! Get it?! *cough*), the roses, the pretty puffy flowers, the romantic couple, the sparkles, the butterflies, the moon... :lol: Yep, every shoujo cliche is there. And probably Moon in Libra is the most shoujo placement for the moon....hahahaha. No wonder Rimbaud would be a great shoujo manga character.
